Do You Need to Spend a Fortune to Get Your Home to Look Great?
The latest trend may be to collect flamingos and fill your home with them. The problem is that design trends are often expensive to follow. There are many other ways in which you can brighten up your home without resorting to flamingos that will only end up collecting dust in a corner a couple of months later. As summer is now well and truly over, most of us would like to brighten up our homes, and if you are savvy about it, adding a touch of color does not have to cost a fortune.
If you would like to jump on the flamingo bandwagon, you can easily do so. Simply buy a couple of blank canvases, spray them a clear white, and find some pink flamingo wall stickers. If you can’t find any wall stickers, you can use window stickers. The only difference is that you need to apply glue to window stickers instead of just peeling off the back. Once you have your stickers, stick them to your white canvases and your home will soon have that “essential” flamingo touch.
Cushions are a great way to brighten any room up. If you are lucky enough to live in London, pop down to China town and invest in some pretty Chinese style decorated cushions. You will be pleasantly surprised when you discover how cheap they are and how they can instantly brighten up any room. While you are in China Town, look out for some of those pretty Chinese tassels. They are useful when it comes to adding a touch of color to a window.
Chinese lanterns are underestimated when it comes to home décor. Sure, you can buy some already decorated ones, but there is no need for that. Instead of sitting in front of the TV this autumn listening to another parliamentary discussion about Brexit, you can spend your time decorating them. Adding colorful silk flowers to them allows you to control the theme. Hang them up on display in your windows or selected areas of your home. They will look amazing in any dark corner and put a smile on your family’s faces.
In your spare time, spend a couple of hours browsing around charity shops. Fold throw out all sorts of things and you never know when your next treasure is going to turn up. Nice things to collect include colorful china which is useful for both displaying and enjoying your next cup of Tetley’s tea out of on a cold morning. Look for tea and coffee cups with flowers on them which will let you hang on to the summer for a little bit longer. There is no need to follow trends, just freshening up your home using simple and cheap decorating tips is just as good as overpriced pink flamingos. Who knows – you may even start the next hot decorating trend?
