How to Spend Less on Clothes

With much cooler autumn winds blowing, it is time to think about re-stocking your wardrobe. But, before you start chucking things out willy nilly, you should take stock. Do you have anything in your wardrobe which may be okay for next season? We are all being encouraged to spend less on clothes and buy fewer clothes in the first place. It seems that many of the ways in which we produce clothes, are having a harmful effect on our environment.

So, if you would like to save both the environment and money, what should you do? There is no reason why you need to buy a completely new wardrobe for the autumn. If you would like to save money, the first thing you should do is to set down and think about what you really need. Make up two lists – one for the clothes you will need for work, and another one for leisure wear. Did you know that most of us only wear 10% of the clothes that we own?

What about shopping in charity shops? One way to save money on clothes, and perhaps even get some better quality clothes, is to shop in charity shops. Many savvy shoppers save a small fortune by shopping in charity shops. Not only that, but you can pick up some good bargains once you become “charity shop savvy’. You will be pleasantly surprised when you find out how many people “dump” some really nice clothes in charity shops. Who knows – you may even pick up a designer bag if you are lucky?

How about paying more for your clothes? Paying more for clothes is another good way of saving money in the long run. Instead of rushing out to buy a cheap garment, it is a better idea to pay a bit more. Save up your money, and when you next spot a sale in a top store, drop in and bag a bargain or two. It may not save you money immediately, but if you hang on to your clothes for longer, it can save you money in the long run. Some brands are better than others, and you should especially look out for clothes which are cotton rich. They are less likely to shrink and will stay looking sharper for longer.

Now, how about the clothes you don’t need or want anymore? Throwing them away is the last thing that you should be doing. Instead, check out if there are any car boot sales in your local area of visit https://www.londonxcity.com/ to pick up tips on what to do with your old clothes. Make sure that the clothes you don’t want any more are nice and clean, and take them down and set up your own stall. You never know, you may not have to put too much money towards your autumn and winter wardrobe once you have sold what you no longer need. Play your cards right and you may even have enough money for a little treat or two.
