London X City Reports Ryan Giggs on Jose Mourinho’s ? ‘Borrowed Time’ After Two Premier League Opening Games Losses! Too early in the season??
Manchester United have lost twice out of it’s four opening games from different clubs in this year’s Premier League’s season. One lost came from Brighton and the other from a home match with Tottenham. With the consecutive losses despite their win against the Burnley last Saturday, the position of Jose Mourinho as the manager of the Man UTD is still under pressure, London X city reports.
Sky News host, Sarah-Jane Mee asked the former Man UTD winger and Wales boss, Ryan Giggs about his verdict on Mourinho’s future at the famed club, where he opposed to rumour that he is on borrowed time.
Ryan Giggs explained that it’s normal to get under pressure when you lose a couple of games. It easily builds up on managers after the club suffers from consecutive defeats in the Premier League, yet it does not mean that the managers will be on borrowed time.“International breaks might come at a good time’’ Giggs added on his interview.
Yet, Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has taken this matter into his hands by taking the club into a new era by appointing a football director, for the first time in 140 years of history. This director of football will act as a transfer foil between Woodward and Mourinho in aims to bring stability to the Red Devils. The Red Devils had a rocky summer in the transfer market where Mourinho decided to bring in more fresh faces to aggrieve the failures. It was reported that Jose Mourinho will spend £100m to get fresh faces for the club to play in the Premier League. However, the Man UTD manager was not able to meet the 5 fresh face target and ended up with just three in the name of Lee Grant, Fred and Diogo Dalot.
Missed target players, Bale and Willian chose to stay in their respective clubs. While the rumour about former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar’s come back was denied by Van Der Sar and affirmed his decision to stay longer with Ajax. With the failure to achieve 5 fresh faces for the Premier League, the Woodward and Mourinho relationship worsened.
The pressure in the Premier League also builds up with the absence of the Man UTD star, Luke Shaw, who suffered a horrific injury during their match against Spain. The Manchester United defender suffered a concussion when he went for a header with Spain’s Defender Dani Carvajal, where Shaw’s head collided with Carvajal’s elbow.
Another pressure weighing down Mourinho could possibly come from tweet leaks stating the line-up of the Manchester United for this year’s Premier League season. The newly signed Diogo Dalot from FC Porto had tweeted about getting back on the play after recovering from an injury sustained at the end of the last season.
However, the Man UTD has no plans of axing the manager with Woodward with the appointment of the football director. Instead, the club is eager to see how
things will work out. With the changes that happened swiftly inside the Red Devils club, football fans can’t help but wonder whether Woodward has lost its
trust to Mourinho after all the troubles.
